In the community
>
As Australia’s leading waste management, recycling and industrial services company, Transpacific has a long and proud history of supporting the communities in which we live and work.
We are committed to building strong relationships that reflect our values and help to create a better future. We support a large number of locally based initiatives each year, as well as some more high profile initiatives.
National Recycling Week
As a long time advocate of National Recycling Week in November every year, we proudly support this event as a way of promoting the importance of recycling within the community. Cleanaway's education officers leverage this national event to highlight important concerns such as recycling contamination, and what happens behind the scenes once recycling and waste is collected.
Clean Up Australia Day
Clean Up Australia Day fosters relationships between the community, business and government to address the environmental issues of waste, water and climate change. Each year Cleanaway donates many skip bins to support this worthwhile cause.
Movember
With a largely male workforce, it is fitting that Transpacific supports the Movember movement, which helps raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health. Employees across Transpacific participate by growing moustaches and holding fundraising events for this worthy cause, which specifically focuses on prostate cancer and male mental health. Truck drivers also adorn their vehicles with giant moustaches to show their support. Transpacific gets behind these activities, matching employee contributions dollar for dollar and helping to raise over $120,000 in 2011 and 2012.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Employees across Transpacific participate in 'pink' activities during October to support Breast Cancer Awareness. The range of fundraising activities across the company include pink morning teas, BBQs, raffles, ‘wear it pink’ days and spare change Fridays. Transpacific matches employee contributions dollar for dollar and all money raised goes directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundations of Australia and New Zealand.
