We own and operate a number of landfill sites across Australia which are used to dispose of residual municipal, commercial and industrial waste.
Landfills are used as the final destination for solid waste that cannot be recycled. As part of our sustainable waste management philosophy, we endeavour to minimise the impact landfills can cause on the environment through improved waste management practices.
Our landfill sites are operated in accordance with local requirements and with regard to strict regulation. Our landfills have won numerous environmental awards for their design, technologies and operational practices.
Green energy
Where feasible, the gas produced from decomposing materials in landfills is recovered and used to generate electricity or treat leachate. Electricity generated from methane gas using landfill gas recovery technology is known as green power. This waste-to-energy process of capturing and reusing landfill gas helps reduce landfill gas emissions and provides green power to the electrical grid.
